Matter Really Matters

Matter and energy are the most basic parts of the Universe.  Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.  When energy is created, the transfer of energy or heat, changes the state of matter.

When matter gets hot, its density changes.  Remember back in your younger science days when your teacher taught you about solids, liquids and gases?  All of those changes happen because of how much energy or how little energy is inside the matter.

Do our feelings matter?  Yes!

Everything matters and everything is matter!  Everything you see, touch, feel, and taste are made of atoms.  They are the smallest and most basic unit of matter.

Atoms are extremely attracted and repelled by each other. If you think of them like individual building blocks, it's easy to imagine how atoms that are alike will build onto each other.  Like Lego's!

Within each atom are three little parts:  the proton, neutron and electron.  They are organized and each have a specific function that makes an atom an atom. They make gold, gold. Or silver, silver. Even neon is neon.  If something happens to the atom because of a collision, or extreme heat.  The atom will change and become something else.  Collisions add parts to atoms and take away parts.

Tiny atoms are very stable surprisingly, we are made up of different atoms. Our eyes, our muscle, our skin, heart, gut, fingernails.  All of it, amazing stable atoms.

You could easily say, "I've never seen an atom so what are you talking about?"  Because of better and better technology we can see atoms!

They are real.  They make patterns.  They make matter matter.
