The argument begins again! Remember why Pluto was demoted?
IAU rule number 3:
Pluto is too small to clear the objects around its area. Pluto orbits within the Kuiper Belt and is surrounded by lots of space rocks.
Pluto doesn't have enough gravity to pull the dust and rocks in its area into its body. Pluto is a small, icy, round ball of venting liquid nitrogen....if a meteoroid or an asteroid is going to fly by, there isn't enough gravity from Pluto to pull it in.
There are other Dwarf planets too, maybe you have heard of them: Ceres, Haumea, Makemake and Eris...
Scientists believe there are many more dwarf planets in the solar system. We hope to know more about Quaoar, Varuna and Orcus!
There are lots of places to explore in the Solar System, and Pluto is not alone! So don't be sad, things are looking up for Pluto.
